English Now! A/B Version 2.0

English Now! A/B 2.0 is an English as a Second Language (ESL)/English Language Development Program (ELD), designed for English Language Learners (ELLs) at language proficiency levels 1 to 4 in Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2, and for ELLs at language proficiency levels 1 and 2 and emerging 3 in Grades 3 to 12.

The goal of the program is to accelerate English learners’ acquisition of English to enable them to function successfully in a grade-level academic environment.

English Now! A/B 2.0 is developed in five grade categories: Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2, Upper Elementary, and Secondary (which can be used as an Adult Education ESL program). In all grade categories, the program consists of 135 ESL/ELD lessons and 15 phonemic awareness and pronunciation lessons, and 9 assessment days, for a total of 150 teaching days.

English Now! A/B Kindergarten is designed for English learners entering Kindergarten with two learning needs: (a) developmentally appropriate curriculum, and (b) age-appropriate second language instruction. Lessons, materials, and activities are designed to meet these two needs. Students entering Kindergarten at English Proficiency Level 1 should be at English Proficiency Level 3 after 150English Now! lessons, and possibly at Levels 4 or 5 with the inclusion of 30 additional Intervention lessons.

There are three units in English Now! A/B Kindergarten. Each unit has three lesson cycles. Each lesson cycle has 15 core lessons. A pretest, a Posttest, and two progress tests are included with the program. Each unit also has 5 Phonemic Awareness and Pronunciation lessons. This brings the total to 50 lessons per unit and 150 for the entire program.

English Now! A/B Grade 1 is designed for English learners entering Grade 1 with two learning needs: (a) developmentally appropriate curriculum, and (b) age-appropriate second language instruction. Lessons, materials, and activities are designed to meet these two needs.
